GMK sizzles with heart for people, critics rave

August 15, 2007

Good Morning Kuya (GMK), the new morning TV program hosted by Daniel Razon, continues to sizzle daily and earn critical raves for touching the needs of ordinary people and giving help “for the sake of helping.”

Recently, veteran entertainment TV host and columnist Alfie Lorenzo commended the program for its unique effort in mixing TV magazine format with public service in his August 13 column in Abante, the widest selling tabloid in the country.

Compared to the rest of the morning shows, most likely … we will give to Ka Daniel … the “very encompassing” (and highly compassionate) morning show of him … because it covers whatever there is to be solved in our government,” Mr. Lorenzo writes.

The show touches on the needs of ordinary citizen.”

Mr. Lorenzo, who is also a talent builder and has been in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years, singled out GMK’s sincere public service efforts to cater immediately “to the dire needs of our poor fellow countrymen.” Other TV shows or programs, he said are only good at giving promises but with no immediate response.

(We feel, or we really see the heartfelt help given by Kaka (Daniel’s) program without any reservation or just to prepare in the future, because Kaka’s program just keep on helping and helping, not minding if people will notice or praise what they are doing. They just do and work without caring what others are doing. And Ka Daniel can really do his task in several hours on the air solo; it is reflected in his energy and shows that he can endure even for five hours on-the-air.)

On his final note, Mr. Lorenzo asked whether other networks would follow suit and imitate GMK’s format or otherwise, such as grinding the show to pulp so it would fizzle out, which he hope not.

For his side, Kuya Daniel has remarked over the weekend that he is not bothered if other networks see the GMK as model and imitates the good sides of the program such as providing free bus rides to commuters, free legal consultations and medical checkup and job hunting services, and more.

He said that the show was really meant to be an inspiration, and if others would share the program’s format and ideals, that is better because it is the people who will surely benefit from more services offered available for them.

Tayo naman, lahat ng ipinaglilingkod natin, para sa kapurihan ng Dios.”

(For us, everything that we serve for people, we are doing for the glory of our God.)

If they (ABS-CBN 2, GMA 7) have the guts to do the same as UNTV 37’s Good Morning Kuya, then it is the people that will surely benefit more from services offered. But there is ONLY one thing that they cannot immitate and that is Ang Dating Daan and Bro. Eli Soriano. To God be the Glory.
